"Lagos By Bus" By Aphrodesia
The San Francisco based Afrobeat band is lead by two female singers who are well versed in various Nigerian and Ghanian vocal styles. Horn and percussion heavy, the group blows out a spirated funk-happy Afrobeat/Highlife sound. They recently undertooka pilgrimage to Africa opening for Fema Kuti (son of the late iconic Afrobeat godfather Fela) at his legandary Lagos club, The Shrine. This band doesnt merely copy '70s African pop and rhythms; it creates its own by adding serious doses of jazz and Afro-Cuban music.\
