GLOBAL MASHUPS 2019

GLOBAL MASHUPS 2019

We’re mashing up 2 cultures on 1 stage with an open dance floor! Each band plays a set, then the two meet and jam. Come ready to dance!

SAT | MAR 9 | 7 PM (DANCE LESSONS) & 8 PM (CONCERT)

The series opens with the return of 2 powerhouse bands, Falu, internationally recognized Indian vocalist, whose quartet combines traditional roots with inventive rock, mashing with Hazmat Modine, distillers of multi-American genres, melded with African, Central Asian, Caribbean and Eastern European influences. Bring your dancing shoes!

SAT | MAR 23 | 7 PM (DANCE LESSONS) & 8 PM (CONCERT)
The Brain Cloud, whose sextet brings Western swing’s ragtime, bluegrass, Delta blues and cowboy ditties, mashing with Romashka’s Russian, Balkan, Romanian, and "Gypsy" vibes. You’ll be dancing all night

SAT | APR 6 | 7 PM (DANCE LESSONS) & 8 PM (CONCERT)
Spanglish Fly returns with that Latin Boogaloo, soul and R&B mix you can only find in NYC, mashed with ecstatic Eastern European Jewish melodies and rhythms by the Mini-Klezmer All-Stars, led by The Klezmatics' Frank London. Come ready to dance!

SAT | APR 20 | 7 PM (DANCE LESSONS) & 8 PM (CONCERT)
Get ready to square dance with mandolin, bluegrass master Buddy Merriam & Back Roads, mashing up the night with the hip-swiveling, Afro-Cuban rhythms of Conjunto Guantánamo. The dance floor will sizzle!

FRI | JUNE 15 | 7 PM (DANCE LESSONS) & 8 PM (CONCERT)
Lemon Bucket Orkestra, Toronto's multiaward winning, world-touring, groundbreaking guerrilla-folk party-punk Balkan-brass band, meets NYC’s Kakande, with lush vocals, sinewy koras, flutes, cellos and the balafon (xylophone) of a master griot from Guinea. Come ready to dance!
